- Dr. Scherlag is the Chief of Cardiology at Mercy Hospital (2004 through present).
- While at Duke University, Dr. Scherlag worked with the top leaders in the field of cardiology. Special attention was paid to the application of evidence-based medicine which entails using only those therapies rigorously proven to improve a person's quality of life. He now focuses on giving his patients the newest and best therapies available.
- During his fellowship with the University of Oklahoma, he did extensive research with atrial fibrillation resulting in multiple publications and a presentation at a national meeting. He is hopeful that the catheter he worked on, which is currently being patented with Johnson & Johnson, will eventually be used to cure atrial fibrillation.
